Lots of our pupils are members of musical ensembles within the county and the Greater Gwent Area. As members of groups such as ‘Bottom Heavy,’ ‘Blaenau-Gwent Senior Windband’ and the ‘Greater Gwent Double Reed Ensemble’ these pupils got to perform and compete in the National Festival of Music for Youth which was held at County Hall, Cwmbran. If the groups are successful in the next heat, they will perform at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham. Good luck to all of those involved.
Farewell to Year 11
It is a sad time of year as we say goodbye and good luck to the year 11 music group. Thank you for all of your effort and commitment over the last few years, and good luck in your future studies. Lots of pupils are going on to take musical courses next year, goodbye and good luck to you all.
La Musique
Abertillery played host to musical visitors from France for their second annual trip. Pupils joined them for rehearsals and a concert at the Metropole. It was a great opportunity to meet the French pupils and learn about the way that they study music. If you would be interested in hosting French visitors next year, please contact Suzanne at the Metropole.

Again, there are a huge number of exam entries and passes this term, congratulations to all of those who are celebrating their success and good luck to those who are taking exams this term. Special mention must go to Jordan Bool, who will take his grade 8 (the highest) on Bass Guitar this term.
