School Council
A school council meeting took place recently involving pupils from most year groups where pupils participated in giving their opinions on the well being of the school.
I am the chair of the council and I would like to thank the year 7s for bringing their minutes to the meeting from their year meeting and also participating fully in the meeting. In the next council meeting I would appreciate it if all year groups could bring their minutes from their year council please.
I would also like to ask any other year groups who did not attend the school council meeting to please attend the next meeting and if there are any queries of dates and times please see Mrs. J. Woodroffe.
I am pleased with the work of the council over the past years and we are hoping to participate in more community and school projects.
In our latest meeting we discussed a number of things. We discussed applying more information about the school council and also adding a question section to the new school website www.abertilleryschool.net
The school council feels that the year 7 toilets and other toilets in the school are in desperate need of redecoration and also soap dispensers are needed. *
At the meeting the members of the school council thought that a ‘Sub Way’ section being added to the cafeteria would be a good idea and perhaps scattered dinner times for different year groups would work well too.
We also discussed a number of projects that we could complete together with the pupils of Nantyglo School if their school does shut, such as a Fashion Show, Sports Day and Workshops in Music, Art and Drama.
We felt that there should be more litter bins around the school and in the corridors. *
Please could you discuss any ideas you might have to put forward with your school council rep in your form class.
Thanks!
Amy Cross 11TO, School Council Chairperson.
* Note from the headteacher:
I will look into this and see what I can do.
