Facilities
The mathematics department are housed in dedicated rooms with ample facilities. All rooms have access to ICT, graphical calculators and use a variety of web based programmes to enahance the learning experience of all pupils at Abertillery.
Key stage 3 curriculum overview
Year 7 are taught in mixed ability form groups for 4 lessons a week (one of these lessons is a dedicated numeracy lesson)
Year 8 and year 9 are grouped according to need and follow a modular system. Numeracy lessons continue with more functional mathematical input.
There is the potential for those pupils who have been identified as More able and talented in mathematics to start their GCSE course in year 9.
